Senior Profile: Jason Mansell

Whether it is on the diamond, the court or the field Jason Mansell has established himself as a leader. Jason has demonstrated the qualities any coach looks for and that other players want to follow. For the past three years he has led Lancaster teams to a combined 4 Sectional titles. He has been a part of 3 straight titles for the football team and last year helped Lancaster win its' first basketball title in over 60 years.

On the football field Jason has been the starting QB the last 2 seasons and this year has the Legends poised to win their 5th straight title. On the diamond Jason calls the game behind the plate. His cannon arm keeps runners in check and his hitting ability often has opposing pitchers trying to avoid throwing him any strikes. On the court he is a play caller and the floor general. Even when the pressure is mounting and game situations become frenzied Jason is always the one keeping the team calm and focused. Jason's court awareness and quick reactions have led him to become one of the toughest defenders. He averages almost 4 steals per game and would have been a threat for most steals in a season this year if a full schedule was possible.

There are many words that can be used to describe an athlete like Jason but I think the best way to describe him is, he is a winner. Any team he is on knows that he will give everything he has to help his team win. When asked about Jason here is what Coach Otto had to say, "He is just a born leader. Even though basketball isn't his main sport he shows up everyday willing to do whatever he can to make the team better. You can tell he truly cares about the basketball family".

With the uncertainty of even being able to play his senior year, you know Jason will be cherishing every moment and giving it his all on the diamond, on the court and on the field.
