Senior Profile: Jackson Jerebko

The Jerebko name is pretty well known in the basketball world locally and beyond. Jackson's uncle and father both were stars at local high schools. He has a cousin who played in the NBA. His brother, Jakob, is among the greats who have worn a Lancaster jersey. Needless to say Jackson had some pretty big shoes to fill.

I remember watching Jackson coming up through the ranks, playing in modified and JV, and a lot of people would refer to him as "JJ's brother". Well these last two seasons Jackson has carved out his own place in Lancaster basketball history and I don't hear anyone referring to him by that anymore. Last season as a Junior, Jackson stepped right into a starting role and helped carry the team to winning the Sectional championship. Jackson went into the offseason unsatisfied and motivated to improve his play and continue building on the success of last year. This season Jackson is leading the team in scoring, averaging 12 points per game. He is also among the leaders in rebounds. More importantly Jackson is providing the Senior leadership any team needs. Even when Lancaster has gone through difficult parts of their season Jackson refuses to allow the team to give up. His character has kept the Legends motivated and has helped keep a positive attitude around the team with playoffs looming. Coach Otto has said, "He comes from a great basketball family, which makes him a fierce competitor. He brings a lot of passion and heart to the game. Jackson has no problem putting the pressure on himself." Jackson's ability to handle the pressure and that passion he brings will help him in any avenue he takes in the future.
