Season Preview: 2021-22

The Legends went into last season with high expectations but after a season ending knee injury to Joe Harrington, Lancaster was never able to fully recover and reach those expectations. After surgery and months of rehab Joe is back for his Senior season and looking to return Lancaster to championship form. Joe will also be looking to etch his name in Lancaster's record books as he is 399 points away from becoming only the 3rd player in school history to reach 1000 career points. Joe also has a chance of setting records for both career points and rebounds.

There is no doubt that Joe will be the main focal point of the offense as well as opposing defenses, but the Legends also have a few other returning weapons. Sophomore Channing Francis burst on the scene last year as a Freshmen and quickly became a permanent fixture in the lineup. Channing is looking to improve on his stellar season last year and take more of a leadership role this season. Another player looking to step into a leadership role is Senior Noah Kimble. Last season Noah's playing time increased throughout the season after demonstrating he is a threat both offensively and defensively. After leading Lancaster to a successful football season and putting in work during the offseason Noah is poised to be one of Lancaster's go to players this year. Other returning players include Seniors Mark Sirianni and Ryan Andolina who are both looking to contribute in big ways this season.

The Legends will be very young this season as they only have 4 returning Seniors and add 2 Seniors Adam Gabryszak and Jake Sarnowski who will look to provide valuable leadership to the team. The Legends will look to a number of Juniors who are moving up from the JV team. Joe's brother Jack Harrington will be one of those Juniors Lancaster will be looking to. Jack had a successful JV season where he showed he has the ability to dominate a game by playing a number of positions and is hoping to bring his game to the next level. Other Juniors who are coming up and looking to play valuable roles are Eric Frys, Matt Mazur, Ryan Corcoran, Matt Bauer, Travis Bauer, Zach Doering and Max Stoldt.

As always, the Legends will have a tough schedule as they play in one of the hardest leagues (ECIC 1). While Jamestown looks to be the preseason favorites, every year ECIC 1 proves to be one of the most competitive leagues with teams like Clarene, Orchard Park, Williamsville North, Frontier and West Seneca West all fighting for the top spot. This year ECIC 1 adds a new team, Hamburg, who is last year's Class A Champion and they will be returning all 5 starters. The Legends nonleague schedule doesn't get much easier as they will be playing in the St. Francis Holiday Tournament and will also be making a trip to Rochester to play perennial powerhouse Bishop Kearney.

Lancaster has the firepower to not only compete for a league title but a sectional title as well. The two big questions will be can Joe Harrington return to his dominate form and which Juniors will be stepping up to make big impacts for this relatively young team? We will soon find out as the Legends first game is against West Seneca West on Wednesday December 1 @ Java Gym with a 7:00pm tipoff. Come out and support your Legends this season!
