Clarence sweeps the season matchups

Clarence began the game with two quick 3's and that is all they needed to defeat Lancaster 53-48 last night. Lancaster was never able to fully recover from that and Clarence held the lead the whole game. In the 1st quarter Clarence was able to hit a few wide open shots and played solid defense. Channing Francis scored 7 points in the opening quarter to keep it close, as the Legends trailed 13-12 at the end of the 1st. The 2nd saw the Clarence defense really clamp down holding Lancaster to 6 points in the quarter. Clarence had a double digit lead for most of the quarter until Noah Kimble hit a late 3 to get the lead to single digits before the half, 27-18. The 2nd half was a back and forth game. Behind scoring from Jackson Jerebko and Francis the Legends kept the game within striking range. The defense was able to get a number of steals and turn them into points including a HUGE breakaway dunk by Francis that the camera happened to miss. (If anyone has footage of this please pass it on to me using email below.) Whenever Lancaster would cut into the lead it seemed Clarence always had an answer, hitting timely 3's to take away any momentum Lancaster was building. The 2nd half the Legends again showed their competitiveness by continuing to battle back to keep the game close. In the 4th quarter the legends were able to get the lead down to 3 but Clarence hit clutch free throws to pull out the victory. Jerebko finished with a team high 18 points and 7 rebounds. Francis had 13pts 6rebs. Noah Kimble had 9pts. Ryan Merz and Matt Jandzinski each finished with 3pts and Jaydon Brittingham had 2pts. The Legends look to snap their losing skid Friday as they face Williamsville North at home with a 6:30pm start.
